Finding Faults

A fault is a break, bad splice, or tight, sharp bend in a cable. You can quickly and easily identify the location of faults as they exist in your network by displaying them on the map based on measured fault distances.

To find a fault, you first need to open a Route Detail for a specific port.

Opening a Route Detail

Generating a Route Detail
  1. Right-click termination point
  2. Hover over termination point name under Objects header
  3. Select Port List
  4. Select a port from the list
  5. Select the Route Detail button

Finding a Fault

Finding a Fault
  1. Open the Route Detail
  2. Enter the fault distance to the right of the Find Fault button (units are based on what you have set for your Display Units in Application Settings).
  3. Select the Find Fault button.
  4. View the fault location, designated by a pin in the Map window.

Increment Distance Measurement

The fault location pin will move along the highlighted route relative to its original position at the entered increment each time the Increment button is selected.

With the Route Detail open and the fault locating highlighted on the map:

  1. Enter the increment distance to the right of the Increment button (units are based on what you have set for your Display Units in Application Settings).
  2. Select the Increment button.
  3. View the fault location, designated by a pin in the Map window.

Clearing Highlighted Routes and Fault Location Pins

  1. Open the Right-Click Menu
  2. Select Clear Highlights
